Types of Conjunctions
Subordinating Conjunctions
Subordinate conjunction शब्द वाक्य के उपवाक्य को मुख्य वाक्य से जोड़ते हैं। उपवाक्य उन शब्दों का समुह है जिसे वाक्य का पूरा अर्थ व्यक्त करने के लिए मुख्य वाक्य की जरूरत होती है। Subordinate Conjunction उन शब्दों या वाक्यांशों को जोड़ने के लिए प्रयुक्त होते हॆं जो एक दूसरे पर निर्भर हैं।
Subordinate/Subordinating conjunctions join subordinate clause with the main clause of the sentence. A Subordinate clause
is a combination of words which requires the main clause to complete the meaning and sentence. Subordinate Conjunctions
are used to join the words or group of words which are dependent on each other.
(Subordinating Conjunction words are:- if, before, how, once, since, till, until, when, where, whether, while, after,
although, because, how, provided that, as soon as, even if)
Examples
| Please complete your homework before your papa comes. | तुम्हारे पापा के आने से पहले, अपना होमवर्क पूरा कर लो। |
| He will go to London if he gets a Visa. | वह लंदन जाएगा अगर उसे वीज़ा मिल जाए। |
| Although he studied hard, he could not qualify the exam. | यध्यपि उसने कड़ी पढ़ाई की, पर वह परीक्षा में उत्तीर्ण नहीं हो सका। |
| Since he has crossed the age of 25 years, he could not apply for the job. | चुंकि वह 25 साल से बड़ा हो गया है, इसलिए वह नौकरी के लिए आवेदन नही कर सका। |
Correlative Conjunction
जोड़ियों (pairs) में प्रयुक्त होने वाले संयोजनों को Correlative Conjunctions कहा जाता है।
Conjunctions used in pairs are called Correlative Conjunctions.
(Correlative Conjunction words are:-Either...or, Neither...nor, Both...and, Not only...but also, Though...yet, Weather...or.)
Examples
| Prashant will either get a pay hike or promotion. | प्रशांत को या तो वेतन वृद्धि मिलेगी या पदोन्नति। |
| Neither she nor her friend knows how to drive a car. | न तो उसे और न ही उसकी सहेली को पता है कि कार कैसे चलानी है। |
| He not only studies in school but also works in a clinic. | वह न केवल स्कूल में पढ़ाई करता है बल्कि एक क्लिनिक में भी काम करता है। |
| I don't care whether I get visa or not. | मुझे परवाह नहीं है कि मुझे वीजा मिलता है या नहीं। |
| Though his financial conditions are not good yet he is honest. | हालांकि उनकी वित्तीय स्थिति अच्छी नहीं है फिर भी वह ईमानदार हैं। |
| I am both a doctor and a singer. | मैं एक डॉक्टर और एक गायक दोनों हूं। |
