Pronunciation of Joint Vowels

हम स्वर ध्वनियों के बारे में सीख रहे हैं और हम जानते हैं कि उनका मूल उपयोग शब्द की लय आसान बनाना है। स्वर बोलने के दौरान मुँह को बाधित या बंद नहीं करते जबकि व्यंजन करते हैं। इसलिए हर शब्द में एक स्वर या एक अर्ध स्वर की आवश्यकता होती है अन्यथा बातचीत बाधित हो जाएगी. स्वर व्यंजनों की आवाज़ों को एक विराम देते है। अंग्रेज़ी में अधिकांश शब्दों को बोलना आसान बनाने के लिए प्रत्येक 2 या 3 व्यंजनों के बाद एक स्वर का प्रयोग करते हैं।

We have been learning about vowel sounds, and we know that the primary use of them is to make the word flow easier, vowels don’t restrict or close our mouth while speaking while Consonants do. So there is a need for a vowel or a semivowel in every word, else the speech will become restrictive. Vowels give a pause to the sounds consonants make. Most of the words in English use a vowel after every 2 or 3 consonants to make it easier to speak.

We have learned about Vowels, now let's throw some light on Join vowels. Sometimes we find a word depending on two vowel and their sounds together. To emphasize the prime vowel, the vowel needs assistance from another vowel to make it sound long or short. Example of such combinations is joint vowels like - 'ai, ea, ee, oo, ou'.

आइए यह समझने के लिए नियम नंबर 7 का संदर्भ लें। जब किसी शब्द में दो Vowel - संयुक्त स्वर एक साथ हो तब पहले Vowel का उच्चारण long होता है और दूसरा Vowel silent रहता है। संयुक्त स्वर 'ai' के बाद जब व्यंजन 'R' आता है तो 'ai' का उच्चारण 'एअ ' होता है।

To understand this, let's refer to Rule no.7. - When two vowels are together in a word, then the first Vowel has a long sound and the second Vowel remains silent. When consonant 'R' comes after joint vowel 'ai', then joint vowel 'ai' has a sound of 'एअ '. Together these two vowels take out a slightly longer 'a' sound.
