Subject-Verb Agreement

There are several Rules in the Agreement. We describe below the essential Rules. Please read and understand the rules, again and again, to learn English better.

2. जब एक ही अर्थ की या भिन्न अर्थ की दो संज्ञा एक वाक्य में वाक्यांश के रूप में आती हैं, तो हम एक सिंगुलर वर्ब का उपयोग करते हैं।	When two nouns of the same meaning or of different meaning come as a phrase in a sentence, we use a singular verb.
कंपनी का लाभ और मुनाफ़ा बहुत ही आकर्षक है।	The profit and gain of the company is very lucrative.
चीखना-चिल्लाना सुना गया।	Screaming and shouting was heard.
धीरे और स्थिर रेस जीतता है।	Slow and steady wins the race.
ब्रेड और मक्खन का नाश्ता सभी होटलों में उपलब्ध है।	Breakfast of bread and butter is available in all the hotels.
3. जब दो या दो से अधिक singular Nouns एक वाक्य में - or, either…or, neither…nor से जुड़ी होती हैं तो हम सिंगुलर वर्ब का उपयोग करते हैं।	When two or more singular nouns are connected in a sentence by - or, either…or, neither…nor, we use singular verbs.
आपको या आपके मित्र को कार्यालय में उपस्थित होना है।	Either you or your friend is to be present in the office.
18 महीने से पहले न तो अव्यन और न ही वर्तिका ने बोलना शुरू किया है।	Neither Avyan nor Vartika has started speaking before 18 months.
कनिका या उसकी माँ एक उपयुक्त उत्तर देती है।	Kanika or her mother gives a suitable reply.
कोई भी छात्र या शिक्षक उसकी बर्खास्तगी के पक्ष में नहीं था।	No student or teacher was in favour of his dismissal.

4. जब एक वाक्य में दो या अधिक संज्ञाएं (मिश्रित - एकवचन और बहुवचन संज्ञा) शब्दों (or, either…or, neither…nor) से जुड़ी होती हैं, तो हम क्रिया के तुरंत पहले बहुवचन संज्ञा लिखते हैं और बहुवचन क्रिया का उपयोग करते हैं।	When two or more nouns (mixed - singular and plural nouns) are joined by the words (or, either…or, neither…nor) in a sentence, we write the plural noun immediately before the verb and use the plural verb.
या तो नेता या कर्मचारियों को हड़ताल तोड़ने का प्रलोभन देना होगा।	Either the leader or the employees have to be tempted to break the strike.
न तो वह और न ही उसके परिवार के सदस्य उसे विदेश भेजने के लिए तैयार थे।	Neither she nor her family members were ready to send her abroad.
रीता या उसके दोस्तों ने उसे सांत्वना दी।	Reeta or her friends have consoled her.
राज या उसके दोस्तों ने कांच तोड़ दिया है।	Raj or his friends have broken the glass.
