May have / Might have

'Might have' यह इंगित करने के लिए प्रयोग किया जाता है कि हालांकि अतीत में कुछ संभव था, वह वास्तव में नहीं हुआ। यह काल्पनिक था। पारंपरिक अंग्रेजी में 'may have' का उपयोग पास्ट टेन्स से बचा जाता है, लेकिन आधुनिक अंग्रेजी में इसका उपयोग वाक्यों में दिखता है।

'Might have' is used to indicate that though something was possible in the past, it did not actually happen. It was hypothetical. The use of 'may have ' is avoided in the past tense in traditional English, but in modern English, its usage finds its way in sentences.

Look at the examples:

वे वहां कारखाने का नवीकरण करने में सक्षम हो सकते हैं यदि उन्होने केवल बैंक ऋण लिया होता।	They might have been able to renovate their factory if only they had taken a bank loan.
अगर वह सेवा में रहता तो शायद वह जहाज़ का कप्तान बन गया होता।	He might have become the captain of the ship if he would have remained in service.

More examples of 'May have/Might have':

मैं अपने फोन में रिमाइंडर डाल रहा हूँ/डालूंगा, नही तो मैं अपनी शादी की वर्षगांठ भूल सकता हूँ। - यह वर्तमान या भविष्य की सम्भावना के बारे में कह रहा है	I am setting or will set a reminder in my mobile phone, otherwise I may/might forget my wedding anniversary. (It is talking about present or future possibility)
वह आज नॉर्मल है। वह शायद शादी की वर्षगांठ भूल गयी होगी। - यह भूतकाल की सम्भावना के बारे में कह रहा है	She is normal today. She may/might have forgotten about the anniversary. (It is talking about past possibility)
मुझे लगता है अब तक शायद वह सो गयी होगी।	I think she might have slept by now.
वे आज आगरा पहुंच चुके होंगे। (ऐसी सम्भावना है)	They might have reached Agra by today. (There is a possibility)
तुम शायद मेरा नाम भूल गये हो।	You might have forgotten my name.
वह एक दुर्घटना थी। ड्राइवर शायद चोटिल हो गया है। (हमें सही जानकारी नही है परंतु सम्भावना है और शायद वह चोटिल हुआ है)	That was an accident. The driver may have been injured. (We do not know the exact position but possibility exists and probably he is injured)
वह एक दुर्घटना थी। ड्राइवर चोटिल हो सकता था। (संभावना थी परंतु ड्राइवर चोटिल नही हुआ)	That was an accident. He might have been injured. (There was a possibility, but the driver was not injured)
वह मुझे मीटिंग में आमंत्रित कर सकता था (परंतु उसने नही किया)	He might have invited me to the meeting (but he did not invite).
वह मुझे मीटिंग में आमंत्रित कर सकता है। (ऐसी सम्भावना है)	He may have invited me to the meeting. (There is a possibility)
किसने तुम्हारी अंगूठी चुराई होगी?	Who might have stolen your ring?
उसने क्या किया होगा?	What might he have done?
