Apostrophe (') & Apostrophe + s ('s) - का, के, की
मेरे, तुम्हारे,उसके स्वामित्व दर्शाने वाले शब्दों के बारे में हमने सीखा। दो वस्तुओं के बीच संबंध या स्वामित्व दर्शाने के लिए हम अपोस्ट्रोफी ('s) का प्रयोग करते हैं जैसे वह उसका परिवार है - That is his family। पर यह कहना हो कि वह राम का परिवार है तब हमें Apostrophe('s) का प्रयोग करना होता हैं - That is Ram's family। यहाँ राम संज्ञा शब्द है। संज्ञा - संज्ञा वह शब्द है जो व्यक्ति, वस्तु, स्थान, आदि के नाम के लिए प्रयोग होता है।
We have learnt words denoting possession - mine, yours & theirs. To show ownership or possession or a relationship between two things we use Apostrophe('s). e.g. This is Ram's house. Here the word 'Ram' is a Noun. Noun - A Noun is a word that is used as the name of a person, place or thing.
Apostrophe('s) एक प्यूंक्चुयेशन चिह्न है, जो लिखित भाषा के लिए व्यापक रूप से उपयोग किया जाता है। बोलने के संदर्भ में, इसका कोई महत्व नही है। आइए नीचे दिए गए बॉक्स में सूचीबद्ध नियमों के संक्षिप्त विवरण को देखते हैं जो Apostrophe के उपयोग को नियंत्रित करते हैं।
An Apostrophe is a punctuation mark, used extensively for the written language. In terms of spoken words, it has no value. Let's go through the summary of rules listed in the box below, which govern the usage of Apostrophe.
Rule of Apostrophe(')
| Singular Noun - एकवचन संज्ञा | |
| Add an Apostrophe + s ( 's ) to most singular noun words. | अधिकतर एकवचन संज्ञा शब्दों में अपोस्ट्रोफी + s ('s) जोड़ें। |
| e.g. Ankit's car. Doctor's bag. Elephant's trunk. | e.g. अंकित की कार। डॉक्टर का बैग। हाथी की सूंड़। |
| Plural Noun - बहुवचन संज्ञा (Plural word which does not end with 's') | |
| Add Apostrophe + s ('s') to plural noun words which do not end with 's'. | बहुवचन संज्ञा शब्दों में अपोस्ट्रोफी + s ('s) जोड़ें जो 's' में समाप्त नहीं होती है। |
| e.g. People's view. Children's room. Women's world cup. | e.g. लोगों का नजरिया। बच्चों का कमरा। महिलाओं का विश्व कप। |
| Plural Noun - बहुवचन संज्ञा (Plural word which ends with 's') | |
| Add only Apostrophe ( ' ) to plural noun word which ends with 's'. | बहुवचन संज्ञा शब्द में केवल अपोस्ट्रोफी (') जोड़ें जो 's' में समाप्त होती है। |
| e.g. Cows' meeting. Poets' world. Planets' atmosphere. | e.g. गायों की बैठक। कवियों की दुनिया। ग्रहों का वातावरण। |
| Compound Noun - यौगिक संज्ञा | |
| Some compound nouns do not form their plural by adding 's' to the end, e.g. brother-in-law (singular) and its plural is brothers-in-law (not brother-in-laws). Add Apostrophe + s ('s') to the last word. | कुछ यौगिक संज्ञाएँ के बहुवचन अंत में 's' जोड़कर नहीं बनते हैं। e.g. brother-in-law - साला (एकवचन है) और इसका बहुवचन है brothers-in-law - सालें (ना कि brother-in-laws)। अंतिम शब्द में अपोस्ट्रोफी + s ('s) जोड़ें। |
| e.g. Sister-in-law's marriage. Mother-in-law's blessings. Son-in-law's home. | e.g. साली की शादी। सास का आशीर्वाद। दामाद का घर। |
