Could
संभावना: अतीत या भविष्य में कुछ की संभावना / असंभव को व्यक्त करने के लिए होता है। Could have + वर्ब की 'ed' फॉर्म का इस्तेमाल भूतकाल में संभावना के लिए किया जाता है।
Possibility: To express Possibility/impossibility of something in the past or the future. Could have + ed form of the verb is used for a possibility in the past.
Look at the examples:
| वह घर पर हो सकता है (सम्भावना बहुत कम है)। | He could be at home. (the possibility is very less) |
| कुछ भी हो सकता है। | Anything could happen. |
| वह अपने पति से सम्बंध विच्छेद कर सकती है। | She could break up with her husband. |
| वे समझौता कर सकते थे। | They could compromise. |
| सोनल कार्यकारी सचिव पद के लिए आवेदन कर सकते थे। | Sonal could have applied for the executive secretary post. |
| यदि आप देखना चाहते हैं तो सोनिया आपके लिए कार्यक्रम रिकॉर्ड कर सकती हैं? | Sonia could record the program for you if you want to watch? |
| यदि आप ठीक से व्यवहार करते हैं तो शिक्षक आपको थोड़ी देर में कक्षा में भेज सकता है। | If you behave properly, the teacher could send you back to class in a while. |
| मैं अपने पत्नी को अपने व्यवहार के लिए क्षमा मांगने वाला एक पत्र लिख सकता था। | I could have written a letter to my wife, apologising, for my behaviour. |
| गोपाल चिकन नहीं खा सकता था, वह शाकाहारी है। | Gopal couldn't have eaten chicken; he is a vegetarian. |
अनुमति: अनुमति: अक्सर कुछ करने की अनुमति माँगने के लिए 'Could' का इस्तेमाल किया जाता है। हम इसका उपयोग अनुमति को अस्वीकार करने के लिए नहीं करते हैं। यह भविष्यकल में प्रयोग किया जाता है।
Permission: Could is often used to ask for permission to do something. We don’t use it to deny permission for that we use can. It is used in the future.

| माफ़ करें, क्या मैं नोट्स बनाने के लिए पुस्तकालय में जा सकता हूं? | Excuse me, Could I go to the library to make notes? |
| क्या मैं पंखे की गति बढ़ा सकता हूं? | Could I increase the fan speed? |
| प्लीज़, क्या आर्यन कल मेरी जन्मदिन की पार्टी के लिए आ सकता है? | Please,could Aaryan come to my birthday party tomorrow? |
| क्या आप अनन्या को प्रदर्शन के लिए तनवी की नीली चूड़ीयाँ उधार लेने की अनुमति दे सकते हैं? | Could you allow Ananya to borrow Tanvi's blue bangles for the performance? |
