Direct-Indirect Speech - Exclamatory Sentences
Rule No. 2
विस्मयादिबोधक वाक्यों में, हम Indirect Speech में बदलने के लिए Comma (,) and Inverted Commas (“…”) के स्थान पर Conjunction शब्द 'that' का प्रयोग करते हैं। यदि Inverted Commas के अंदर के वाक्य अधूरे हैं, तो हम क्रिया और शब्दों को अपनी तरफ से जोड़ते हैं ताकि वाक्य में वही भाव दिखे।
In Exclamatory sentences, we use the Conjunction word 'that' in place of Comma (,) and Inverted Commas ("…") to change Indirect Speech. If the sentences inside the Inverted Commas are incomplete, then we add the verb and the words from our side to it so that the sentence should show the same sense.
Rule No. 3
What और How के बाद adjective/adverb का प्रयोग हो तो what/how के बदले very का प्रयोग करते हैं, जैसे What a good student!, How beautiful she is! What a smart guy! और जब ‘what’ के बाद ‘Noun’ का प्रयोग हो तो ‘great, lovely, wonderful, terrible, strange, आदि का प्रयोग वाक्य में आए भाव के अनुसार करते हैं, जैसे What a place!, What a scene!
The words 'What' and 'How' of Reported Speech are replaced by the words 'Very' or 'Great'. If adjective/adverb is used after ‘what and how’, then we use ‘very’ instead of ‘what/how’, e.g.What a good student!, How beautiful she is! What a smart guy! And when a Noun is used after ‘what’, then 'great, lovely, wonderful, terrible, strange, etc., are used according to the expressions in the sentence, e.g. What a place!, What a scene!

| उसने शिमला में कहा, "वाह! कितना अच्छा मौसम है।" | She said in Shimla, "Wow! What a pleasant weather it is." | She exclaimed with joy in Shimla that it was very pleasant weather. | वह शिमला में खुशी से चिल्लाई की मौसम बहुत अच्छा था। |
| दर्शकों ने कहा, "अहा! बड़ा मनमोहक गोल है"। | The spectators said, "Bravo! A classical goal." | The spectators applauded saying that it was a classical goal. | दर्शकों ने कह कर तारीफ की कि बड़ा मनमोहक गोल था। |
| उसने कहा, "ओह! मैने अपना मोबाइल खो दिया।" | She said, "Oh! I lost my mobile." | She exclaimed with sorrow that she had lost her mobile. | उसने दुख के साथ कहा कि उसने अपना मोबाइल खो दिया था। |
| वर्तिका ने कहा, "अहा! अव्यन लंदन से आया है।" | Vartika said, "Oh! Avyan has come from London." | Vartika exclaimed with surprise that Avyan had come from London. | वर्तिका ने आश्चर्य से बोला की अव्यन लंदन से आया था। |
| छिः!" प्रिंसिपल ने रमेश से कहा, "तुम इस बार फिर परीक्षा में फै़ल हो गए हो" | Pooh! said the Principal to Ramesh, "You have again failed in the examination." | The Principal exclaimed with contempt that Ramesh had again failed in the examination. | प्रिंसिपल ने उपेक्षा से कहा कि रमेश फिर परीक्षा में फै़ल हो गया था। |
